About Me

I am a veterinarian currently completing a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Cornell University’s Hospital for Animals, where I am developing my skills in clinical practice. I am passionate about advancing veterinary care, particularly in surgery, and my research interests reflect this commitment. Currently, I am investigating surgical castration techniques in reptiles and working on 3D printing osteotomy guides for feline surgeries. My goal is to pursue a surgical residency and build a career in academia, contributing to both clinical practice and veterinary research.

I graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU Vet Med), where I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. At LSU Vet Med, I specialized in Exotic, Wildlife, and Zoological Medicine. I also became certified in Veterinary Acupuncture through Chi University. During my time there, I developed a deep interest in clinical research, with projects ranging from assessing alfaxalone concentrations in angelfish, to studying bone healing in avian wildlife using photobiomodulation (laser therapy). My work has been presented at national conferences, and I am currently preparing a manuscript for the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery.

As a student, I was passionate about conservation and sustainability. I co-chaired LSU’s Raptor Rehabilitation Program, where I helped rehabilitate injured raptors for release back into the wild, gaining valuable insight into wildlife conservation. I also co-founded the Sustainability Advocates and Veterinary Environmentalists (S.A.V.E.) committee at LSU to promote environmental awareness and green initiatives within the veterinary school. I brought the first ever Italian Honey Bee colony to LSU Vet Med and founded the Student Chapter of the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium (SHBVC). Honeybee medicine is growing in veterinary medicine with the FDA's new veterinary feed directive that requires veterinarians to treat antimicrobial diseases that infect apiaries.

Outside of my academic and professional life, I am an artist and enjoy painting with acrylics and watercolors, as well as exploring wildlife photography. I am also deeply interested in the intersection of technology and veterinary medicine, particularly in 3D printing for medical braces and prosthetics for animals.

I am excited about the future and look forward to furthering my education and research in veterinary surgery, while contributing to the field of veterinary academia.

Meet the Family

Here are my pride and joy, all of my animals!

Photos of some of my adventures!

Studying Abroad in New Zealand!

I spent three weeks in New Zealand exploring the local wildlife, immense culture, and the beautiful mountains and beaches. The first two weeks I was there I was with a host family. They were amongst the kindest people I have ever met. Even in as little as two weeks, I became very close with them. During those two weeks, I worked at Massey University in their WildBase hospital, where I treated the local wildlife of New Zealand (90%+ are birds!). After my two week externship was finished, I took a solo trip to the South Island and hiked as many mountains and beaches I was able to. Those three weeks were an incredible time in my life and I am so very thankful I had a fun and safe trip I will never forget.

Hiking Rocky Mountain National Park and Climbing the Flat Irons in Colorado!

Took a solo trip during my fall holiday in October 2022. I hiked 14 miles up to the Sky Pond Trail with the most gorgeous views. I also did my first out door climb on the Flat Iron #2! So incredible, and tough! I made a video during my time there, check it out!

Externship at NAVE- Las Vegas, Nevada!

I was accepted to a paid externship with NAVE hospitals in Las Vegas in May 2022! I was there for two weeks rotating in between many of the hospitals within NAVE. I learned a ton and took advantage of traveling. While I was there, my friend from LSU and I took a car-camping and hiking trip to Zion National Park in Utah! It was a fun experience exploring the desert those weeks.

Camping and Hiking at Big Bend National Park, Texas!

My friend and I drove to Big Bend National Park in June 2021! The trip in total was five days with two of those day camping! We hiked over 30 miles! We also kayaked on the Rio Grande River which was so awesome.
